FONTANARS DELS ALFORINS rests on the Vall d’Albaida Eastern highlands. The Alforins high plateau openened in the meseta and surrounded by the Serra Grossa and Serra de Beneixama forms a mosaic landscape combining vineyards with cereals and olive trees. Their lands have a mix of sand and clay, forming one of the most beautiful sediments of the Spanish geography which brings a unique wealth for the viticulture practice. The Mediterranean climate starts its transition to the Continental climate and landscape marvels the retina at any time of the year. The young urban center of Fontanars dels Alforins cohabits with many fields, wineries, kermes woods and stately homes surrounded by pine woods. Els Alforins were incorporated to the kingdom of Valencia in 1245 by the troops of Jaume I and it depended on Ontinyent’s village until 1927.
